DESCRIPTION:Join us for 21st Century Ministry Enhancement: The Art and Practice of Governance for the 21st Century Session 1 – Building Blocks for a Solid Foundation \nFacilitated by Reverend Mary Masters \nThis event is sponsored by Unity Worldwide Ministries Eastern Region and Southeast Region. \n\nIncluded in this event:\n\nThis series is for anyone who thinks of governance as their least favorite part of ministry\, or even “a necessary evil.” \nMinisters and spiritual leaders\, as well as Board members and anyone who wants to participate in the governance of their ministry\, and encourage others to participate\, with greater effectiveness\, fulfillment and joy\, will benefit from attending this seminar.   \nOver the series of the two sessions\, we will discover governance can be an “expressive art not unlike preaching\,” and that it is a spiritual practice. Additionally\, we will see how it is a valuable opportunity for teaching good civics for the betterment of our world.\n\nSession One:  Building Blocks for A Solid Foundation\nWe will cover essential documents for your ministry that describe the roles\, responsibilities and processes for governance.  These will include:  Bylaws\, Policy Manuals\, Procedures\, Code of Ethics\, Conflict of Interest statements\, and Board minutes.  What’s in these documents\, why they are important\, who they apply to\, who should read them\, best practices for updating and maintaining them. \nAbout the Facilitator\nReverend Mary Masters has served as the Senior Minister at Unity of Buffalo for almost 20 years now. She has also served on the Eastern Region Board\, and a Board President\, and on the Unity Worldwide Ministries Board of Trustees\, and Board chair for one year.  Rev. The company focuses on environmental and public safety of the disposal of residential needles and medications. Chrysalis is nationwide and works closely with the HIV Prevention and Harm Reduction Coalitions to address the Opioid Crisis. \nPrior to founding Unity Radiant Light in 2009\, she had a career in not-for-profit as a Social Worker\, and then spent 18 years as an Executive Director\, responsible for fundraising\, program management and day-to-day management. She worked for the Epilepsy Foundation of Hawaii and Washington\, and the Diabetes Foundation of Rhode Island. During her tenure at these organizations\, she founded three kid’s camps that are still in operation today. \nShe is currently enrolled in the Boston University Professional Fundraising Program Certification Program to refresh and broaden her fundraising skills.
